Wilton Market Report 2011 Year-End Review

The Wilton real estate market saw 177 house closings in 2011, up 7.9 percent vs. 2010 and the highest year-end total since 2007. Darien Market Report 2011 Year-End Review

Total sales of Darien houses fell 8.5 percent in 2011 vs. 2010. The median sales price increased 5.7 percent in 2011, and inventory remains relatively low. Like many similar towns in lower Fairfield County, the Darien market still appears to be moving in a positive direction, particularly relative to 2008 and 2009. New Canaan Library To Expand, Keep Current Location

 The New Canaan Library Board of Trustees recently  passed two exciting resolutions. The first was to begin planning for an expansion of the library, quite an attractive proposition considering the library’s current role as one of the key intellectual centers of the town. The second decision by the board was to stay at its existing main street location, a spot the library has been for the last 99 years. The heart-of-the-town location has offered great convenience to residents looking to attend one of the library’s many events, including the robust Authors on Stage series, one of the best in the area. Businessweek.com 'Richest zip codes 2011'

Businessweek.com looked at all zip codes in the U.S. with more than 100 households and ranked them by average income and net worth. The list, called "America's Richest Zip Codes 2011" revealed that 24 percent of the wealthiest postal codes in America are located within a half hour of the New Canaan-Darien area.

Nationally a concentration of wealth was generally seen  in the New York City, Washington, D.C., and Silicon Valley areas. But not only  was New Canaan listed at No. 19 (highest in CT) and Darien No.36. Ten other zip codes were within a half-hour of the New Canaan-Darien area. They included: Purchase, NY (No. 8), Bedford, NY (No. 22), Weston, CT (No.26), Riverside, CT (No. 27), Scarsdale, NY (No. 35), Chappaqua, NY (No. 37), Armonk, NY (No. 39), Pound Ridge, NY (No. 43), Rye, NY (No.44), and Larchmont, NY (No. 49).
